Original creator description
I dug around the internet for a while looking for a collet setup like this for my Atlas metal lathe. After I failed to find one I created these collets and screw on clamp/thread protector because I was curious how well it would work. I figured why not protect the threads and hold the collet in at the same time. I can also extend the hole through the collet so I could lathe small bar stock. Something you can't do with a draw bar style collet. I included some after shots with the aluminium I milled a groove in. I took about a 1/8th deep pass. My lathe does not have very high RPM's so its not a perfect groove. It would have also been better had I not run the cut dry. But I don't know what WD-4... This hosted file keeps creator credit and Creative Commons CC0 1.0 details.
