Elliptical Gear with no center pivot
A slight remix of PerryT's wonderful Elliptical Gear set. I liked playing around with the gears connected at the off-center pivots, and thought it would look cool to remove the center ring entirely. You can find the original thing here, along with other types of connecting arms: the original source I've made a new oval gear with a spiral design in the middle. Check it out here: the original source This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

Screwless Cube Gears
UPDATE: This design has been superseded by my newer version, the original source , which has better pins (and more gear ratio options). I highly recommend you print that instead, as it prints more reliably, assembles much easier and holds together better. Thank you, all of you who've made cube gears and posted pictures. Since tbuser made these lovely pin connectors, the original source , I figured it was high time to make a fully printable cube gear set. Now you needn't bother buying any more screws: this one snaps together. UPDATE: For anyone without access to a 3D printer, you can now buy these from caesia on her Etsy store: http://www.etsy.com/shop/... This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.
Three Heart Gears
Just in time for Valentine's I've updated my Heart Gears. These use my new snap pin library, so they print more reliably and are much easier to assemble. I've also included three different gear ratios so you can choose how much frustration you wish to impart. Assembly instructions can be found in this video: http://youtu.be/O-qwmRwOpFQ Alternate instructions are here https://jig.space/viewer?jig=427 , courtesy of greenlig. Pretty cool system for making interactive 3D instructions - check it out. I didn't make this design Customizer-friendly, because there aren't really changeable parameters. However, the OpenSCAD file has been rewritten and greatly simplified to make it easier to cut gears... This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.
Articulated Butterfly
I can't get enough of these articulated animals and wanted to try making one. I don't have much experience 3D modeling, but managed to hack this out in Tinkercad. My daughter is floored by the idea that we can contribute something back to original source and that people all over the world can now print this. If you make one, please post a make! Inspired by muzz64's Fish Fossilz the original source And most recently by FernandoCordova89's Articulated Dinosaur the original source Enjoy! UPDATE #1: Featured! This is crazy! I told my daughter and she's as blown away as I am. I told her we won all the Internet points and she asked (bouncing up and down, cl... This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

Platform Jack [Fully Assembled, No Supports]
This functional platform jack prints fully assembled without supports. UPDATE [7/21/2015]: We have uploaded an updated platform jack with stronger scissor arms, improved axles to stop the arms from separating, and a larger gap between the screw and crossbeam to fix the fusing issue. We printed the updated version with a 0.3mm layer height and 15% infill in 4 hours. UPDATE [7/22/2015]: For anyone having problems with the scissor arms fusing together we have uploaded a modified file with the tolerance increased from 0.5 to 0.65 mm (The axle tolerance is unchanged). Gear Bearing
The trouble with 3D printing a ball bearing is that spheres don't adhere to the 45 degree rule, so they tend to print poorly, or if metal balls are used instead, then the bearing requires assembly. This is a new kind of bearing that can only be manufactured by 3D printing and comes preassembled. It is a planetary gearset and functions like a cross between a needle bearing and a thrust bearing. No cage is required to keep the rollers in place, because their gearing keeps them perfectly spaced. The gears are all herringbone, which is why it cannot be disassembled and also why it can act as a thrust bearing. If you're wondering how well a 3D printed bearing could work under load, please check... This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

Compact Camera Tripod - foldable
Hello! Since I haven't found a compact tripod here on original source, I've decided to design one. It's very compact but also rigid, it can support a DSLR camera with ease. Check out the mobile phone mount I made for this tripod: the original source No matter if you are at home or outdoors, this tripod is very handy and folds into a very small package. Plus, there are only four files for you to print and very few other components you'll need. Have fun!! This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.
Scripted vases

SciFi Small Part Storage Crates
Update 05/08/16 Looks like I'm featured! Be sure to share your makes here on original source and don't forget to share pics and tag @andrewbougie on Twitter and Instagram. Also, it looks like there is already a stackable remix. Personally, I prefer the seamless outer wall look, but if you want something stackable, check out the remix tab. Happy printing! Update 05/09/16 I have added variations of the standard and double wide bases to allow for either all large drawers or all small drawers. Update 05/10/16 Added a standard and wide bin without the center divider so you have a full depth drawer option. Not enough? Still looking for a more customized (and complex) scifi crate experience? Ball-joint articulated octopus
This started out as an exercise in making the smallest ball joint tentacle that I could get to print reliably on my printer. It turned into a cute little octopus when I decided to make a fun gift out of the tentacles. It's surprisingly annoying and time-consuming to build, since each segment needs to be hand-trimmed of support and carefully snapped into the next, but the resulting toy has a lot of flexibility and posability. Printing the segments in all different colors to make a rainbow octopus is optional but highly recommended. Update 4/5 - I was experimenting with some freehand sculpting tools, and created a big-eyed alien head for the octopus that I've uploaded. Update 4/7 - added a fa... Cute Hug Me Ghost
This ghost welcomes everybody with open arms. Perfect as a Halloween toy or decoration. We recommend printing with a wide brim to ensure the "legs" have enough adhesion. Also, you may want to add support for the arched portions to ensure they are stable enough. Hairy Lion
This is a Hairy Lion. As the name says it is lion with hair. This is a remix from Geoffro 's design Lion HD (no supports required) . UPDATE #2: I made about 3 times bigger version. It has a lot of hair and they are also very long. Watch Joel Telling's (3D Printing Nerd) video about it: https://youtu.be/OTXPU2P-ElE UPDATE #1: I made 50% smaller version. It should only take about 1-2 hours to print. But you must be much more careful when cutting the hair. This model has much less hair, so if you break or pull out too much hair, there will be visible bald spots. The hair is connected to sacrificial wall, which is removed afterwards. OpenSCAD: infinite volumes desired
The lack of (semi)-infinite volumes (like halfspaces) introduce a lot of unnecessary variables. If they are not kept big enough in all conceivable cases (there are too many cases to conceive in any sufficiently complex model) bugs can be expected to slowly and continulally drizzle in from the run time user side. Furthermore the unnecessary surfaces potentially waste computing power. I invite you to play with this demo-"artifact-tetrahedron" in customizer to get the picture. (note the three tabs in customizer) Semi-infinite volumes are implemented in my miniSageCAD experiment: the original source sidenote: there are some similarities to lazy evaluation http://en.wikipedia.... Test Article 2
This was a test article I designed for testing PET+ filament. I needed a thing which had a variety of challenging features so that I could test multiple situations at once given settings, but the thing had to print relatively quickly as it gets tiresome to wait and wait. This thing has four posts of varying height, a very long bridge, and four 'holes'. The three things I try to test are infill success, stringing (between poles) and bridging. So the Blue pictures are PET+ prints (MadeSolid filament) and the black ones are the standard Makerbot Black ABS material. This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

Strength Tester #1
This thing was inspired by Thomas Sanladerer's excellent (and fun!) video on the strength of various materials. While it is true you can build anything with a 3D printer, you need to understand the material properties if you're going to print parts as structural members. This part is used to determine tensile (and potentially compression) strength of a 3D printed material. This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

parametric | art voronoi cells 3D business card by bonooobong
I wanted to try several colors and 3D print some typography with my Replicator2. I've designed the card with Rhino and Grasshopper, I added some generative voronoi pattern to the text and switched material after the plate was printed. I've used PLA in several colors, default medium MakerWare settings. Schoenhardt Polyhedron
This unassuming shape, the Schoenhardt polyhedron , is actually quite special; it is the simplest non-convex polyhedron that untetrahedralizable (in other words, it cannot be built out of any number of tetrahedra). It has no internal diagonals; every vertex is connected to four others by edges, and the diagonal to the last vertex crosses the valley between two of the sides. I ran into a discussion of this shape and found it difficult to visualize, even with animated versions like the one on the Geometry Junkyard site, so I decided to print a copy. The coordinates in the OpenSCAD script are taken from the POV-Ray file that was animated in the example. This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.
