Lockable Present Ornament

Instead of putting your presents beneath the tree, why not put them on the tree? This is an ornament that also functions as a reusable present box. It's lockable with a nice ornate key. In addition to the key, the ribbons also hold the lid on and add an extra puzzle nature to the box. It can be a fun challenge for young kids to try to figure out how to open it. I'm using this with my kids and they are very intrigued about what might be in the box. They're already asking for the key! I'm planning to put the keys in their stockings. Artichoke Lamp Shade 3D model preview

Artichoke Lamp Shade

Inspired by the geometry of an artichoke and Louis Poulsen's great lighting studies and diagrams. This beautiful lamp shade is perfect for the home or business. You can use any standard hanging light cord and a low temp bulb (such as a cfl bulb.) We purchased a standard lamp base with a 12 ft cord from amazon and it screws in the top hole with no issues. 40% infill, high cooling, slow speed. May be tricky on some printers so you may need support for some of the lower fins. Notes: The model was created in 3ds Max 2011 but due to the inch/mm unit issues the model is scaled up by 2540%. WALLY - Wall Plate Customizer

CUSTOMIZER CHALLENGE CONTEST WINNER - Useful Category Update v1.3: Added 3 plate sizes "Standard", "Junior-Jumbo", and "Jumbo". If you've got a larger hole in your wall these may help. So here it is, my first model designed in OpenSCAD. I found something that would really benefit from being a parametrically designed model: Wall Plates. I've created a OpenSCAD model that allows you to pick from a list of 18 types of connector/outlet style which then generates a 3D model correctly oriented and modeled to be immediately 3D printed. So what options did I include in this file? Well I’ve allowed the user to pick any width from 1 to 5 “plates” wide. These were measured off the standard elect... Preassembled Secret Heart Box

UPDATE: I have new a much better version of this design here: the original source I really enjoyed Eric Young's design of his Secret Heart Box, but I didn't relish hunting down all the required parts to put it together. One thing I learned from designing the Blossoming Lamp is that it's entirely possible to 3D print complex, preassembled mechanisms without breaking the 45-degree rule. I took it as a challenge to show that it's possible even with something as seemingly complex as this locking heart box. See the video here: http://youtu.be/PPqLB-bv4gY UPDATE: By popular demand, I've modified the customizer code so you can now add words to the top of the heart. Make sure y... Sliding Door bolt Print fully assembled

Make sure to check out the original source for add-ons for this thing. This includes alternative fixings and spacers for the main bolt and standard receiver. Update 6 July 2020. I've added a sliding bolt release tool. Print 100% infill. Place part with hole on a solid surface, put bolt in bolt shaped recess in this part then put other part with protrusion over back of bolt and tap with a small hammer to release. I hope this makes sense, just let me know if this works for you. It should get the bolt moving and is safer than trying to find random items and causing injury, I've added a fully assembled door bolt to print. either complete or just the bolt itself. Bonsai Planter (New HD Model with over 1,100,000 Triangles)

We attempted to design a beautiful and useful planter for your next bonsai (which we happen to love). It took several months to find the right plant to fit the planter box. This model, along with others, can be downloaded from http://www.gcreate.com/downloads/ . The photos show the planter printed at 200% although we could have printed it larger, which we will do as the plant grows. We are uploading a shelled model as well as a solid model. When printing the solid model you should set the infill to 0% and you have to cut out the top (or stop the print before it prints the top). The shelled model prints great at the full scale or 2x scale but it may be too thin at half scale. Depending on yo... This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

Automatic Transmission Model

Have you ever wondered how an automatic transmission works? I did, so I looked it up and then designed this desktop model. It has six forward speeds and one reverse. Real automatic transmissions have a hydraulic or electrical system that engages different clutches and brakes to shift gears depending on the driving situation. With this model you control those simplified brakes and clutches yourself. The clutch is actuated by sliding the drive shaft through to different positions (which each have two gear markings), while three separate brakes each also have two gear markings. You select a gear by engaging the brake and clutch position associated with your desired gear. See demonstration vide... This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

Shishi Odoshi "Deer Scarer" Japanese Water Fountain - Fully Working

I was recently in the Portland Japanese Garden where I saw a pleasant Shishi Odoshi fountain. It fills with water until it tips over and dumps the water out, making a noise that's meant to scare away deer that might otherwise eat your meticulously manicured garden. I was inspired to try to create a miniaturized, indoor-scale version, complete with pump and reservoir so it really works - right on your desk! The basic theory of operation is simple: the main tube is weighted below the hinge and hollow above the hinge. Though the top is longer than the bottom, it still weighs less than the bottom when it's empty, so the tube sits upright. As the top of the tube fills with water, it eventually w... LED bridge lamp

New design with universal segment is here the original source UPDATE 13.08.2016 - look for picture and zip file named "shades" Intention of this lamp is to be able to control shadows while doing assembly and soldering works. Instead of simply gluing LED strip to aluminium bar, I decided to make something fancy and inspiring. To me, the ArtDeco and imperial architecture (hello, Gotham City) are endless sources of excitement and admiration. I spent some time researching old Roman architecture on the Internet, to design the base for the bridge. I will soon add some magic into it - IR proximity sensors inside each segment to switch it on and off by the hands gesture and thr... This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

Hairy Lion

This is a Hairy Lion. As the name says it is lion with hair. This is a remix from Geoffro 's design Lion HD (no supports required) . UPDATE #2: I made about 3 times bigger version. It has a lot of hair and they are also very long. Watch Joel Telling's (3D Printing Nerd) video about it: https://youtu.be/OTXPU2P-ElE UPDATE #1: I made 50% smaller version. It should only take about 1-2 hours to print. But you must be much more careful when cutting the hair. This model has much less hair, so if you break or pull out too much hair, there will be visible bald spots. The hair is connected to sacrificial wall, which is removed afterwards. E3D hotend groovemount for i3 with RepRapPro miniextruder

This is a part that mounts on the 30mm spaced holes on your Prusa i3 x-carriage ( https://github.com/josefprusa/Prusa3/blob/master/single_plate/src/x-carriage.scad ). It has a two-part groovemount hole sized to firmly grip an E3D hotend ( http://www.e3d-online.com/ ). It has holes to bolt on a RepRapPro miniextruder ( the original source ). Together, they seem to work pretty well! You need 2x 20mm bolts for the groovemount hotend clamp, with nuts. You need some bolts with short heads (pan head) bolts to fasten it to the x-carriage. Magnetic PCB Holder OpenSCAD

Based on thing the original source which is based on thing the original source I wanted a fully parametric OpenSCAD version. It's simple and the STL I uploaded is for a 26x13x3mm magnet. I printed two and they hold well. If you try to print the wall thickness under the magnet, it'll bulge too much and cause the bottom to rock (not good). Having just used this, I would recommend that the grooves be deeper and thus the thickness be greater too. This hosted file keeps creator credit and license details.

Ipod Nano stand

I made this Ipod Nano holder, originally for the 1st generation, for wall mounting next to a stereo with auxiliary input. It's made to hold the Ipod with a silicone cover, so it might be a bit big for a naked Ipod, and needed a bit of filing to work with the cover. The bottom is open so the ipod can be removed without taking out the cables. I used this model to learn Freecad , so don't expect too much in the design! Apparently 7th generation Ipod Nanos fit too. Cloth Hanger

One of my pet hates is a wet kitchen towel left laying on the kitchen sink. I've designed this small and simple swivel towel hanger to be attached using 3M VHB tape to any convenient space in the kitchen or bathroom. A real space saver which is completely 3D printed using PLA. The "rod" was printed as a square bar and fitted to the rotating cylinder in a diamante orientation for maximum strength. The rod is 7 x 7 x 135 mm. I recommend increasing the length to 165 or 185 in Cura and to print with at least 4 walls for added strength. This is supposed to be an adapter connecting a 5.2m long pole (YK new aluminum roller pole) from Yoshikawa Sangyo Co. Ltd. ( https://www.monotaro.com/g/00491803/ ) and a deck brush PET-18 Spare from 2989.jp Plus ( http://www.2989.jp/product/arau/4903180176199/ ). I made this for brushing my house wall by utilizing a long pole purchased long ago. It worked for me and I would like to shere it with the community.
